Alter Ego: Keynote Speakers

On April 26, 2014 Madison Consolidated Schools Digital Leadership held a technology conference for high school students across the state of Indiana. Our keynote speaker featured Ben Honeycutt and Open World Cause! Each speaker addressed the notion of digital pioneering and creating a positive digital legacy!

Ben Honeycutt

Something interesting about Ben is he wants to be a writer who is the voice for those who otherwise would not have one.  In 2010, as a high school senior, he started this project to send two laptops and establish internet access to the SAV School, a rural village in Bageshwori, Nepal. What began as a simple high school project has become an effort that has reshaped his entire life. . . As of right now Ben is a Sophmore in the University of Kansas and is happily majoring in Secondary History!

He is pursuring his Masters in Architecture. A degree he hopes to pursue so that he might give back to communities in need of structural development and planning. For work as a student, he am constantly involved in the realm of web development, where he can specialize in social media, website creation and blogging. he is a very goal-oriented and meticulous individual!

Nikki Richardson

Being the the Only girl out of the three keynote speakers that came to Madison Indiana, Nikki also attends the University of Kansas because of her passion for international politics and governments. Today she is majoring in Global and International Studies (GIST) and Political Science. Ben and Connor originally approached her about establishing a KU organization connected with the Open World Cause. In the past, she has had experience as Vice President of the KU Rugby Club so the task seemed fairly manageable. However, as they began talking her excitement for the project grew, and they decided to bring me on as a team member.

Their Cause:
Open World Cause

"Open World is an extraordinarily unique project, aimed at helping students in both the American and the Nepali education systems. While American students learn the operational and business side of nonprofit work, they are also allowed to grasp a global view of the concepts, especially the importance of education. At the same, each person involved gets to learn about and meet the students from the school we are helping set up at the time. Furthermore, these Nepali students are given a chance to pursue an education—an opportunity everyone should have."
